I awoke early this morning.
The moon still lighted the sky
I sat in amazement as the night turned to day
And the tiny rays that peeked into my soul
I watched the dew drop weigh heavy on the branch
And the gentle dance the wisteria swayed to keep from losing its gem
I closed my eyes
The perfect flower lay waiting
It’s petals opening as the warmth trickles in
I could feel the awakening like the stretch of tired arms
Arousing its core
I open my eyes
The sun gathers strength and illuminates
Reaches its own arms to the dew drop
To offer it its gift
With grateful acceptance
The dew drop smiles
The rainbow of colors that seem to play and dance
I smile
I wrap myself in the silken robe
Capturing the last moment of night
and the beginning of day
I return inside as the dew drop falls to the thirsty flower below…
